ice cream for breakfast thursdays

Why, hello! These pants (along with the stretchy jeans I mentioned here and wore here), have had starring roles in my wardrobe lately. I found them last month when I went back to Dallas for the weekend, and they are simply perfect! The rusty red, the jean-like quality, and the comfy stretch scooped me up right away. I must say, that visit to my favorite thrift store from home was the most colossal thrifting experience ever. Becca and I went two days in a row, and I definitely spent over a hundred dollars.. haha, oops!

Anyway, I've been pretty busy lately- busy stressing out about school while continuing to be a horrible student, wasting/enjoying most of my time with the roomies, and spending lots of time with "him." It might be silly to bring up, but I'm just so happy! I mean, that's not unusual at all, but I'm even happier than I used to be.

And yes, it appears Oscar the Grouch has made a cameo appearance in some of these pictures. A little left over Halloween action for ya.

Sidenote: Ally and Becca accused me of using cleaning to avoid schoolwork. They are spot on. I just love cleaning so much- and I'm being productive when I do it! Issues.

What's your strangest habit?

even so

Even in the ugliest and least likely places (i.e. a parking lot), there is so much beauty to be discovered. It is unbelievably comforting to me that despite the worst, goodness is surrounding us- in everywhere, everyone, and every way!

Happy, happy fall.

slouchy days

Welll... I'm having a great weekend (again). I decided to stay home tonight to "do homework," haha... but we'll see how that goes. As of now, I've been facebook chatting with *someone*, daydreaming, and hanging out with Becca. We both really want to be productive tonight, or else tomorrow will be a terrible Sunday, but.. oh well! We'll make it work. I suppose I will work on my latest art project.

Last night, we carved pumpkins! I didn't take pictures (story of my life), but I had a great time.

Current goal: lessen the severity of my procrastination problem.

www

www=what a wonderful weekend

(I think this is going to be a recurring post theme!)

It's only three pm on this lovely Saturday, and my weekend has already been so great! Last night, Claire, Becca and I watched a movie (Away We Go) with wine and dove chocolate after finishing a dinner of provolone grilled cheeses, salad, and cheez-its. It was all delicious. Sometimes, my favorite Friday nights are more chill, relaxed, low-key hang outs. As most of my friends know, and as you all may have gathered, I prefer small groups and intimate social events. Don't get me wrong, though; this does not mean I don't like people or parties, but rather that I enjoy deep, meaningful relationships and quality time. So much.

Yep! Anyway, this morning I woke up and made coffee and pancakes for several of my friends, as Becca had the absolutely genius idea to host a little "watch party" for our school's football game. While the game was on the whole time, we all just chatted and laughed, and ate some good ole brunch. the best part is that a couple of people hadn't met each other before, and they got along splendidly! I love when that happens- when separate groups of my friends mix well. It makes me happy.

Than, the leaf time started. Once they all left, I ventured off to collect some leaves (which are changing!!!!!) for a drawing assignment that I get to border with leaves. In case you didn't know, I LOVE LEAVES!!! and trees! Pretty much every day in the fall, I am picking up leaves all over campus, and handing them away as gifts (sometimes to strangers, and sometimes to friends). All in all, it's pretty awesome that part of my assignment is to do something that I absolutely love and am passionate about. Jeez, I'm rambling... I'll hurry things up. As I said before, I ventured off, with my plum baggu in hand, and discovered a secret walking trail behind our apartments There were flowers and trees and leaves galore! I was so incredibly happy and accidentally went completely through a pretty long playlist on my ipod.

Now I sit, eating even more leaves (spring mix salad), after having inspected, gathered, felt, laid out, flattened, and adored the previous ones.

Like I said, what a wonderful weekend- and it's not even half over! (:

While this question may seem cliché...
How is your weekend going?

where's lawrence

They rock!!! Yay for friends' bands. However, I always thought I wouldn't blog about such personal things. but... I had to.

What do ya'll think?

P.S. this picture cred goes to my camera/my brother's skills (Thomas, not the others). He and I decided together that I should try to be emo. This was taken over the summer between bands at a concert. Don't ask why I put it up with this post. I'm not really sure.

Guest Post: Safe Buying Tips for Diamond Purchases

Hello everyone!

Abazias.com is this really awesome online diamond/jewelry store that wants to share with you some basic factors that should influence your decision when buying a diamond. I know lots of you out there are soon to get engaged, thinking about getting engaged, or even just dreaming about getting engaged, so here is what I think is some very helpful information:

When buying diamonds, there are many options from the cut and clarity to the actual retail location you choose for purchase. You must research any purchases that you make to assure you get the best product for your money. As with any high-end purchase, you must be weary of misrepresentation and fraud in the marketplace. Although you can get the best pricing online, you also run the risk of not receiving the product you ordered or even just not liking the product you buy. With an online transaction, you do not really get to touch the item before purchase, but most retailers take this into account and offer a satisfaction guarantee. That way, if you do not like what you see, you can exchange it for something that you may like better.

Asscher cut engagement rings are a popular item in the diamond world. Identical in cut to an emerald cut, the asscher cut has risen in popularity since its inception in 1902. The popularity of this cut did peak in the 1920’s and has recently fallen into favor for its modern look. With a square shape, a four-prong setting is necessary and can be made of any metal including gold, white gold and platinum.

Not only can you find this cut at your local jewelry store, but it is also available online at jewelry retailers who offer advanced selection and searching tools as well as certifications for viewing of all diamonds. On the certification, you will find the cut dimensions, color, clarity or lack thereof, and carat weight. All of these parameters relate to the price you will pay for the diamond. You must take a close look at this document and high-quality pictures of the exact diamond before making a purchase.

Are you going to pick out your own ring, or let your boyfriend do that for you?

dreamhelmets and more

Well... you know me and my lists! It's the easiest way to catch up, despite the randomness...

1. As far as all the house drama goes, everything is going smoothly, and I am so happy (thanks to all of you for your sweet comments and encouragement). I'm still getting used to my classes this semester but am loving fall 2009 so far! One other reason? I mean, I don't want to jump the gun or anything, but a fortune cookie of mine from a few weeks ago seems to be coming true... It said, "A chance meeting with a stranger may soon change your life." (:

2. Also, this very well might be the funniest thing I've ever seen online!!!! Haha, it's still making me laugh... The captions. The pictures! The joy.

3. I wore tights for the first time in months yesterday. The winds are blowing, and the leaves are changing! I couldn't be more excited.

4. Earlier this week, I did a little online shopping... thank you Urban Outfitters for carrying and delivering to me the oh so delightful BDG Super Stretchy Cigarette Jean. They are the most comfortable pair of jeans ever on the planet! I highly, highly recommend them. While I'm definitely more of tights-wearer in the fall/wintertime, I can these pants rising to many occasions in the near future.

Side note: I've been really needing to make a good purchase in the denim department lately. Although the last item I bought was a truly a treasure, it's not exactly what you would call everyday or practical...

Thanks for helping with my pocket, Bonnie. haha...

Get a load of the custom detailing:
*edit: when I purchased the jumpsuit from a local thrift store, it was already custom detailed! I don't know who in the world spent their time decorating; all I know is that I love them for it. (:

5. And finally, I hope that ya'll didn't completely forget about me during my recent hiatus from the blogging world. All I can offer you now are upcoming outfit/music/movie/life posts, a promise that I will be imminently catching up on your wonderful blogs, and the following haiku (sounds like hiatus, right?) to express my apologies:

I'd like to say hi
without your blogs I would cry
view this pretty sky!

How's school/fall/September going for you??

quick update

1. My life is a colossal whirlwind of chaos. No kidding! It turns out, the house we moved into less than two weeks ago has serious flooding/mold issues. Gross. So, I've been busy searching for a new place to live, moving back out of "our house," and helping organize the International Students' Orientation with my work study job. That last part was fun, and Ally and I have definitely been bonding (haha), but... MAN. What a crazy week.

2. I wish I had time to go shopping! Maybe I can do some online here in the next couple of weeks... I plan to hit up the basics: Urban Outfitters, Style Super Store (just found out about this site!), and perhaps some etsy shops. Sally Jane Closet has really been tempting me lately...

Anyway, I'm alive (sort of) and well, and I can't wait until we finish moving! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel (:

reunions of all sorts

Hello pretty people!

On Tuesday, Bonnie and I drove up here to move into our house, and it's so lovely! I mean, we're definitely still in the unpacking/cleaning/organizing/furnishing process, but it's starting to really feel like a home. (: Yay. I'm just exuberantly happy to be here with Bonnie, Ally, and Becca- my best friends who also happen to be my roommates. Joy! Haha, but seriously, despite all the hard work and lack of sleep, I just feel so lucky to be in this situation. and to have the best couch ever (you'll see).

Another reunion I had recently was the family reunion last weekend on my mom's side of the family. They're actually from Texas, and I've never really been that interested in the family's history until now (my dad's side is from Ireland, and I've always had more of a connection with that side of the family tree). Anyway, it turns out my great-great-great-something or other grandfather-ish man was good friends with Sam Houston, and the two of them came to Texas together. Crazy! and I found THE BEST family names that I may want to pass on to my future kids at some point. We'll see though.

All in all, the reunion was fun, I had a great time re-connecting with my mom's aunts and uncle, and I spent several hours with Thomas and a couple of my cousins looking through a bunch of old photographs that were simply beautiful. Beautiful, beautiful. My favorite is actually not of any blood-relatives, but of my great-great aunt's best friends. I was so drawn to the image, what with the natural lighting, the pretty trees, the crisp water, and just how happy the girls look. They have the most genuine smiles, and I can tell they were just having a lot of fun.

Thanks to my great aunt Judy, I can show you what I'm talking about (click the image to see it in greater detail if you like):

(:

I hope you are as happy as these girls forever and ever!

tombo

This is me and my brother. (:

He's the best little brother ever on the planet and is actually more of a big brother to me these days. I'm the second youngest of five (as I've mentioned before), so Thomas here is the only sibling that's younger than me. We're all very close, but being the last two at home these last few years has caused Tom and I to get to know each other a lot better. He's so mature! I mean, seriously, he's sixteen (almost seventeen), and I find him to act much older than a lot of people my age. He is somehow incredibly humble, despite his musical talent and the loads of girls that are always all over him. [Ugh... Luckily, most of the realllly crazy ones are out of the picture now, though. I'm not trying to be rude, but he doesn't deserve to be treated like a "piece of meat," or whatever people call it]. He's a great story-teller as well as an amazing listener and is always open to new things, people, and music. He also has great personal style (that sounds silly, but he does), and he loves shopping! We both frequent a lot of the same places here. It's not uncommon for a little insight to go back and forth between us about our outfits- even if the other person didn't ask for any.

Anyway, I'm blessed to have him in my life, as are his friends. Haha, I don't know why I felt the urge to tell you all about him, but I guess I'm just happy to be in his presence. I'll miss hearing him playing piano through the walls of our house, and his asking me to come and sing harmonies with him. I'm feeling especially sentimental right now since I know this has been (most likely) the last summer I'll spend living at home- which is a good thing, of course! I'm just hesitant to leave him here in Texas... oh well!

When he and my parents came up for family weekend in the fall, we spent several late hours wandering around this hotel, taking tons of random pictures, and catching up. Haha, I really like them. Especially because we were both in pajamas. Here are just a few:

On another note, I saw 500 Days of Summer recently (last weekend), and I was a little torn. It was beautiful, wonderfully acted in, and intriguing, but something about it gave me a weird feeling. I mean, I like that it was realistic in the nature of the plot line, but... I don't know. I didn't like at the end when the narrator said something along the lines of this: There is no such thing as a miracle. There is no such thing as fate.

I hate to be so critical, but I just really don't agree with that. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that I'm on a mission to become a more decisive person.

And, finalmente, these are examples of caboodles that I mentioned in my last post, for those of you who didn't know. I used them to store nail polish, make-up, collectibles, art supplies, etc. If you have a little niece or daughter or friend, maybe you can spread the love? Even though they're not "the thing" right now, they're still awesome. Especially the ones with all the little compartments for organizing things...

journey to the past

Things I discovered while packing up my room:

1. My caboodle (remember caboodles??) from elementary years that I customized with magazine cut-outs- they are words and phrases like unplugged, girl, sweetheart, live a little, be radical. intensify who you are. express who you want to be, ice ice baby, beauty queen, love her madly, makeup, graceful (haha!), duchess, the essence of a woman, etc.
... this is an entirely unnecessary and slightly embarrassing item to tell you about, but it made me laugh and reminisce, and maybe it will make you do the same. (:

2. Songs I wrote in like... 2004, 2005, and 2006. I will definitely not be sharing the lyrics today. Haha, these songs are far enough in the past where I can laugh about them, and yet... I can't bring myself to fully make fun of them.

3. To Do lists and journal entires from my Model Phase.. which happened back when I was awkward, lanky, and hormonal. I secretly and seriously aspired to be a model, and when I say "be a model," I mean that I was prepared to leave my family, friends, school, and life to go do runway shows in Paris! Hahaha, needless to say, it didn't happen.

A few additional things you should probably know about me:

1. I am fully and completely 100% addicted to Burt's Bees. and I really don't mind. My friends like to make fun of me because of this.

2. I have a "crazy eye." It's not lazy; it is something I am mostly in control of. I'm not sure you'll ever see it; however, if I'm in a weird mood and happen to post it at some point... then I suppose you'll know what I'm talking about.

3. I am very biased in the sense that I absolutely adore all redheads. I love their hair, their freckles, and those redheaded boys attract me to no end!

These are very personal things I have shared, and I really don't know why I'm doing it! I suppose I feel guilty about my blogging (or lack thereof) lately, and I want you to know that I care, I am still living, and I am a real human? I guess. Later today, I may question that I posted all of this, but oh well. Sometimes when I'm cleaning, I get in a weird mood and do a few spontaneous things as a result. This is probably one of those things.

Anyway, it's almost the weekend! I'm moving very, very soon, and I'm thrilled. I wish you all wonderful days and wonderful weekends!

amazin raisin

Well, this past week or so has been utterly fantastic but also very tiring- phew! It's because I was with my friends from school almost 24/7, and it was just magnificently wonderful. I love them! Anyhoo, pretty much the only morning I was on my own, I spent visiting the farmer's market with my mom. Fun stuff. Oh! Also, I did some AWESOME shopping and have decided not to feel guilty. This is what summer is for. Right? Right.

My most indulgent and expensive purchase was a completely necessary 80's prom dress. And, I mean, it's silver, pink and blue- how was I supposed to pass it up when it fits me perfectly? Bonnie suggested being Barbie on Halloween, to which I'm much obliged. You shall see my dear bloggers!

FALL IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait at all.

P.S. I am so thankful for the beautiful sky we get to live under. (:

P.S.S. Thanks for being so understanding regarding my lack of postage! I'm about to start packing and preparing for the move up to Arkansas, but I'm going to to the best I can! I'm sure it'll be easier to keep up with da blog more once classes start at the end of August.

seriously MIA

So, obviously, I've been majorly neglecting my blog.. and I'm sorry! This week has been super-busy and super-great (some buds from school are in town), but I'm quite behind on my postage, as well as keeping up with your wonderful blogs! Anyway, I'll be back in action ASAP, I promise.

I'm happy that:
-My brother Wesley is back in the U.S. (:
-I shopped a little sale with Ally and got a wonderful fringe dress from Free People (outfit post is on the way!)
-I'm moving back to school in two weeks- into our awesome, new house!!!

I hope you are all enjoying summer (and that you are not completely melting away should you be experiencing hot weather like me).

Be sure to check out the new Baggus!! I have several colors of these re-useable shopping bags, and they're THE BEST ever. I've had some of them for a couple years, and they're machine washable, they fold up, and they're extremely versatile! I use them for shopping, groceries, sleep-over bags (haha), snacks, etc., and I love all the pretty colors. Anyway, yay for new stripes and patterns!

See you very soon!

what a wonderful world

This quote makes me so happy, I can't even tell you...

"You are so much sunshine to the square inch."
-Walt Whitman

(:

Anyway, sorry I've been a busy bee lately. I'm back home now and back to blogging! Austin was wonderful; I spent some time with Trisha, went to her best friend's wedding (which was the coolest wedding I've ever been to), rediscovered No Doubt (haha), and... lots of other stuff.

Oh! Also, for quite some time now, I've been wanting to try a shot of wheatgrass. I finally had my first one on Friday. It was amazing! I felt so rejuvenated and human. Mmm.. definitely getting one of those again.

P.S. I went to the lake with some friends on the fourth and didn't get sunburned at all!! I'm so proud. Reapplying really works, my friends.

P.S.S. If you're ever in the south, I strongly recommend visiting Austin, TX. It's très cool and not at all overrated. I've never been to Portland, but I imagine the cities are similar- Portland being the one with nicer weather (for me).

...This is such a random collection of thoughts, but that's ok... haha

And this is what I wore to the [outdoor] wedding:

It's the only really long dress I have, but you can't tell from this picture.

What did ya'll do this past weekend?

Hilary Duff + Gossip Girl?? Read the news story here.

Hmm... all I know is that this will be interesting! but with GG in general, what isn't? (:

I still CANNOT wait until I get to see Trisha tomorrow (er, today)... Yay for Austin time! Maybe I'll do a little more shopping that I can't afford! haha.

By the way... Bonnie is going to London this fall after all! I'll miss her, but it's going to be amazing (duh). and her trip will make me look forward to mine even more!! Anyhoo, read about her excitement: two stars to the right and straight on till morning.

sister, sister

My sister, Trisha, is going to be in Austin this weekend, so I'm going down to see her on Friday!!!! I can't wait! I haven't seen her since.. March? and before that it was Christmas.

Speaking of family, Thomas has the Cool Facts app on his iphone; when I was flipping through it the other day, I found out that:

1. You're more likely to die from a champagne cork hitting you than from a spider bite.

It's kind of a sad one- since it talks about dying, but Thomas is terrified of spiders and was quite comforted by this fact.

Also...

2. There was no punctuation until the 15th century.

Crazy! I wonder if I would even be able express myself adequately, seeing as I tend to really over-punctuate when I'm writing.

Anyway... something(s) to ponder! (:

P.S. Jenny Lewis pandora is perfect for my mood right now.

the old and the new

Hmm, I've just realized that the majority of my recent outfit posts have been pretty flower-tastic- which is no surprise to me!.. but ya'll might think I'm crazy. I guess I kind of am! And my wardrobe is and always has had a pretty high floral level (well, for the past five years or so). Flowers are just so wonderful! Whether it's a print, a garden, or the so-called "weeds" I like to put in my hair, flowers are one of the happiest things on this beautiful planet. To me, anyway.

You know what else makes me happy? Sondre Lerche. I know I've mentioned him before, but I'll never tire of the amazing singer-songwriter from Norway. He's the best ever! Literally! I'm really, really, super excited about his upcoming album.

P.S. If you've never heard of him, perhaps you weren't aware he did the entire soundtrack for Dan In Real Life? It's one of my favorite movies- both because it's about big/crazy/fun families (you can't go wrong with that), and because Sondre did the soundtrack. (: I remember I was so ready for it to come out once I found out he was doing the music! Anyway, that's all of my rambling for today.

Hope you're all having wonderful Mondays!

i'm a ladyyy

Here's the new floral romper I mentioned recently! This print has more of a youthful vibe than my usual florals, so I guess I'm changing things up, haha. Today is a perfect day to wear a romper/almost nothing, because we are now officially in the dreaded three-digit temperature phase of summer (when I say three-digit, I mean it hits at least 100 degrees Fahrenheit every day... and when I say phase, I mean... the majority of the summer). It seems like i should be used to the heat by now since we've lived here for eleven years, but I just really don't like it. Oh, well. There are pros and cons, I suppose. All that said, I'm hoping/planning on this being the last Texas summer of my life. You really never know though!

Anyhoo, I have to work tonight, so I've decided to even that out by having a leisurely Saturday. (: I had coffee with some friends from my senior year art class- yay for reunions!- and now I'm about to go have lunch with my family. It'll be probably be Mexican food.

P.S. ALERT!!!! As of now, I have found approximately FIVE gray hairs in the past year. Is that normal??? I'm not usually one to be concerned with aging, but I'm nineteen years old, and I don't think my head should be sprouting wisdom-hairs just yet. Perhaps my exterior is trying to reflect my inner grandma?

This sunset reminds me of India for some reason. Oh, how I long to visit there some day...

tralala

I am anxiously, anxiously awaiting the arrival of 500 Days of Summer in theaters. It looks so fantastic! Also, my best friend was lucky enough to see it early at a film festival this year (I know; not fair), and she loved it!!! I pretty much have no standards when it comes to movies, so my friends are never surprised when I like them. Shay, on the other hand, is a little picky- so her loving it says it will be even more magnificent than I was hoping! I'm pumped. In regard to the whole "no standards" thing, I don't mean I like every movie, but... I also pretty much do. They're just like people! All good in their own different ways. I do not, however, like scary movies. This is simply because I am not a fan of being disturbed when I have the choice. Anywaysss, movies are one of my favorite things about life. I love seeing them in theaters, re-watching them, enjoying them with different people, and the pure wonder that comes with simultaneously experiencing an "escape" from reality, while also applying things to my own life.

Haha, sorry for that rant. I guess I'm just happy! People, movies, music, and nature are all so great.

Today was a lovely little day. I had brunch at La Madeline with some friends from school, followed by ice cream (of course), and then shopping with Bonnie and Kelley! Fun times. I got another floral romper for only 12.50. Perfect.

lost and found x 2

Wow, I've taken a seriously long break from blogging, but it seems like everyone does that every so often, right?

Anyway, I miss it, and I'm back. This past week, I've been:

- Seeing movies, such as Away We Go, The Brothers Bloom, and Up! (for the second time).
- Eating lots of food (ice cream at least once a day seems like the only way to go).
- Spending time with Thomas (: and my friends...
- Hitting up some birthday/summer parties! One of which has caused me some serious back pain... it's quite pathetic how an hour of dancing can impair me so... I guess I'm just "out of shape" since I haven't been walking around campus or anything... haha.
- Being productive! I feel like doing laundry and running errands evens out with all the time I spend being lazy.
- Trying and failing to ride the DART efficiently... Remember know how one of my summer goals was to get better at riding the DART? Well, earlier this week, it took a mix of being on various trains and buses for over three hours for me to get back home. Haha, who knew missing one little bus stop could cause so many problems? Oh well. Parts of it were nice, i.e. not worrying about being in a hurry, people watching, listening to some good tunes, etc. But I'm very happy that is over. Hopefully next time I'll do better.

What have you all been up to? I guess I'll see once I visit your lovely blogs- exciting!

Yesterday, I was happy to rediscover this dress I bought last semester.

I wore it once for Ally's birthday I think, and it's been hiding in my closet ever since. I would like to hereby officially resurrect the poor dear.

just call me rose

Well, I'm pretty sure I'm turning into an old lady. Like, right now... /:

I just feel like I'm in a weird funk! Most of my best friends are either working a lot or doing summer school, and I've just been completely and utterly lazy this week. and tired... I mean, everyone needs a little alone/chill time, but I'm just ready for things to get back to normal. I guess I did go out last night though, so perhaps they already are.

Music-wise, I've been listening to a lot of good ole Patrick Park! He's fantastic; check out "Your Smile's a Drug" and "Thunderbolt" from the album, Loneliness Knows My Name, if you feel like it. Now, I don't consider this to be solely a fashion blog, but I feel like it's been too long since I've had an outift post. So expect that soon.
I miss my siblings. Thomas is here with me, which is awesome, but all five of us haven't been together since Christmas. I mean, we're all used to being apart, but... still.

This is an old picture, but I like it- even though David's eyes are closed haha.

Also, I feel like watching a musical. Or an opera. Weird cravings!.. I'll probably do that.

celebration station

Well, I just realized that exactly four weeks from yesterday was my first day ever to blog, so it's officially been one month! I'm not going to be counting a ton of anniversaries, but one month seems pretty significant to me. As will one year be. and maybe six months. Haha anywayyy, I've loved every minute of it, and I want to thank all of you for reading, commenting, and returning back here to blorange dice. It make me very happy. (: and, of course, thanks for having AWESOME blogs yourselves!!! Every time I have the chance to sit down and read through them, it's just so enjoyable. I love the wide variety of photos, styles, and personalities. (:

P.S. Don't tell Becca I put this picture I took of her up to display my enthusiasm...

One another note, Crazy Man of the Year Award goes to: the random artist at the mall today! Let me explain: I was working (I work in children's retail, as I have been for three years), and just kind of folding, talking to my friend/co-worker, and greeting customers. It was a pretty slow afternoon though, so we were nearer to the front and more stationary than usual. So, this man was just sitting RIGHT outside the store on a bench facing our entrance awkwardly sketching in his sketch pad. No big deal though, right? He was looking up and down a lot, but I figured he was probably using the colors as inspiration or studying children's clothing trends or something. I don't know. Needless to say... I was wrong. When I went out for my break, I was going to sneakily walk behind him to get a gander at his picture, but he stopped me before I had the chance!

"Excuse me miss, I've been here sketching you and your partner in crime (chuckle), and I just wanted to let you know. It's just for fun. I'm going to go in and give it to her. So it's for you two. It'll be in there."

"..Oh! Wow, thanks!! Is that like for a class or something?"

"No, no, just for fun." (grin)

"Cool!. Well, ok, thanks!.." (I walk away, pretending I have somewhere to be)

Now, I know I'm slightly obsessing and telling this story in way too much detail, but it was just plain weird. Flattering, for sure, BUT... the man came back like two hours later. And it was a little uncomfortable. He smiled, made eye contact, nodded, and then continued to draw. or whatever. Now, I really don't have a problem with people drawing me in general, and I know it's normal to draw strangers or write songs about them, but.... I would just rather not know about it. And I was getting a little bit of a creepster vibe- especially after seeing how HUGE he made our bums! Like seriously, they were big. Bubble-butts, if you will. Ah. Oh well... different strokes for different folks (muahaha, puns..)

The best part?

He was totally sporting the white socks and velcro sandals.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, the sketches were actually pretty good (besides the booty issue)- kind of vague, but we could definitely distinguish between the two of us on all of the "poses." Ah, strangeness. I do love when weird things like this happen though. Anyway, I hope you all are having the loveliest Mondays. (: Maybe ones that are a little less awkward. Or not! You might be one of those people (like my friend, Claire) who always and often thrives off of situations like this. I don't know; what do you think?

Are awkward experiences fun or horrible?

green skies

And this belt was packed up and out of sight all year, why??? The world may never know.

Regardless, I'm happy to have found it.

The concert last night was great- perfect mood for dancing, live music. (:

Check out this dude's awesome keyboard:

It's been kinda crazy with all the storminess lately. Power went out all over Dallas last night and today, and there were some small tornados that touched down too! I wasn't really scared about that; just the fact that it was really difficult to drive for some people. Oh well. Everything's fine now. I had a pretty long day at work (especially for being the day after a FOUR concert line up), and I'm pooped. I rejected my friends in lieu of lazing around in my candle-lit home and, hopefully, going to sleep pretty soon. Tom and I actually came up here to a coffee shop nearby to use some wifi and charge our phones, but we'll be going back in a few minutes.

Here's to coffee, candles, couches, and concerts! Whoaa, serious accidental alliteration...

happy days

Wellll, I feel like every day more and more people are getting done with school for the semester- congratulations to all of you! I hope you celebrate to the max and are able to do some very summery things (: I, myself, have been feeling more summery than ever lately, which is great, because I've also been missing Arkansas quite a bit... so I'm happy I have both something to look forward to and something to enjoy right now! For example, summer as of recent= having ice cream multiple times a day (like today haha), flying kites, lots of coffee, open mic nights, upbeat tunes in the car, etc. Oh, I love it so...

Anyway, I'm off I go to see some friends of mine open for a band that's gotten semi-popular, I believe. They're called Dear and the Headlights? Not my favorite, to be completely honest, but it's always fun to see some live music- and, obviously, see my friends in the opening act. Actually, Dear and the Headlights opened for my brother's band a couple of years ago in this really tiny venue that I can't even remember the name of, so it'll be interesting to see how they've changed and whatnot.

P.S. After reading over this post really quickly, I'm realizing how many contractions I use when writing informally... perhaps I'm subconsciously making up for the fact that I never use them in essays and work stuff. Weird! Then again, maybe not.

Oh, one more thing! I recently got my cartilage pierced! It was EXTREMELY spontaneous; I've never even considered doing it before, but I was walking around the mall with a couple friends, piercings came up, and next thing I knew...

It took me awhile to figure out how I feel, but I think I like it. I also think I'll like it more after the first twelve weeks are over and I can replace the gold ball with a little pearl. We shall see.
